How does someone get the Community Options Waiver in Maryland?
Call Maryland Access Point at 844-627-5465 to be placed on the Community Options Waiver Registry; the state invites people to apply in registry order, and nursing facility residents whose stay Medicaid has paid for at least 30 days can apply without waiting.
Applicants need a nursing facility level of care, income no higher than $2,982 a month (300 percent of the 2026 SSI federal benefit rate of $994) and countable assets of $2,000 or $2,500 depending on category. The waiver pays for assisted living services, not room and board. Full detail: the Community Options Waiver explained.
Is the Medicaid waiver the same as the Senior Assisted Living Subsidy?
No -- they are different programs with different agencies and rules.
